Participation
"All will be encouraged and provided with opportunities to share in the responsibility for the well-being, direction and fulfillment of the mission of our church community. Our goal will be to establish a "sense of partnership and belonging" in each member of our parish. Special effort will be made to seek out and solicit support of passive members of our parish community and encourage them to renew their participation in all aspects of parish life. "
Knights of Columbus - In 1882, the first council of the Knights of Columbus was founded in Connecticut and has grown into an international society of more than 1.5 million. The Knights are a Catholic men's fraternal organization dedicated to the values of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. In June 1999, the Father J. McCarthy Council, #12472, was established.
The K of C demonstrates their commitment to the church by assisting with Mass and perpetual adoration; to the community with the "Adopt a Highway" program and "Operation Hope"; to the family with the "Family of the Month" program; and to the youth by sponsoring a basketball tournament and a youth drug awareness program. The K of C provides the muscle and skills for various building projects around the church such as landscaping, painting and carpentry projects. Membership is open to men of the parish over 18.
