What do I do during a Holy Hour of Perpetual Adoration?

Fr. Benedict Groeschell points out in the book, “In the Presence of the Lord: The History, Theology and Psychology of Eucharistic Devotion” that there are “four kinds of prayer most appropriate in the presence of the Eucharist, namely adoration and praise, thanksgiving, repentance and trusting intercession.”  Accordingly, here are suggestions for what to do during private adoration.

·       Pray the Psalms or the Liturgy of the Hours

·       Recite the “Jesus Prayer”

·       Meditate using Scripture

·       Pour out your heart to Christ and adore Him

·       Ask for forgiveness and intercede for others

·       Pray the Rosary

·       Sit quietly and just “be” in the presence of the God
