Bereavement Ministry

Have you experienced the loss of someone close to you or has someone’s loss impacted you in an unexpected way?
Sometimes, we just need someone to listen and care. It can be difficult to reach out, but we are here. Deacon Kurt Herbst is available to talk with you one-on-one about your loss and grief.
Comforting the Sorrowful - Spiritual Work of Mercy
The Spiritual Works of Mercy have long been a part of the Christian tradition, appearing in the works of theologians and spiritual writers throughout history. Just as Jesus attended to the spiritual well-being of those he ministered to, the Spiritual Works of Mercy guide us to "help our neighbor in their spiritual needs" (USCCA).
How and What You Can Do
Be open to listening and comforting those who are dealing with grief. Even if we aren't sure of the right words to say, our presence can make a big difference.
- Lend a listening ear to those going through a tough time
- Make a home cooked meal for a friend who is facing a difficult time or arranging for a meal train
- Write a letter or send a card to someone who is suffering
- A few moments of your day may make a lifetime of difference to someone who is going through a difficult time
- Prayerful Support
Prayerful Support
Friends, we do not grieve alone or without hope. We have God’s Word to keep us grounded and give us hope. We also have God’s presence and the support of His people to comfort us. Through His Word, His Spirit, and His people – the Lord bears our burden of grief and walks with us each day.
Parish App notices are sent to all Parishioners when we are made aware of a fellow Parishioner’s passing. When you receive these notices, say a prayer for the Soul of the person who passed as well as their family and friends.
Mass of Remembrance
Each November on All Souls Day, a Mass of Remembrance is offered for all our deceased loved ones with a special remembrance for those who have died since the previous November.
Mass Intention
Another way to support those who have passed, and their families, is to have a Mass said in Memory of a loved one.
Call Gina at the Parish Office 843-556-0801to arrange a Mass Intention.
Prayer Request
Our Intercessory Prayer Group has dedicated themselves to praying for your intentions. You can send a prayer request in Memory of a loved one and/or their family. Send a Prayer Request
